Josh Gagne

Josh is a fifth-year doctoral candidate in Stanford's Sociology Department and the Center for Education Policy Analysis (CEPA) at Stanford University. He is a Diversifying Academia, Recruiting Excellence (DARE), Gerald J. Lieberman, Institute of Education Sciences (IES), and Enhancing Diversity in Graduate Education (EDGE) fellow with a BA in Political Science from the University of Chicago and an MA in Education from Stanford University.

Josh's research tackles questions of racial and economic inequality with a focus on issues related to segregation, racial ideology, and methodological innovation. His dissertation makes novel use of large datasets from the US and Brazil to gain insights into racial segregation within schools, residential income segregation, and rates of police killing civilians.
