PACE Research Data Analyst

We are looking for a Data Analyst to work with Policy Analysis for California Education (PACE). PACE is an independent research center that unites an interdisciplinary array of nationally prominent scholars on education policy, specifically focused on comprehensive policy reform and continuous improvement in performance at all levels of California’s education system. The Data Analyst will engage with Stanford faculty, students, and staff as well as external clients and partners (e.g., district personnel, research partners at other universities). PACE is committed to examining policies that promote growth in student achievement and reduce student achievement gaps, with a focus on accountability systems, highly effective teachers and school leadership.

Core Duties*
The Data Analyst will conduct data collection, lead data management, and support implementation of education-related research. Responsibilities may include:

  • Coordinate data collection processes between research teams and external district partners.
  • Construct and manage multiple longitudinal data sets.
  • Identify potentially problematic data, make corrections, and determine solutions to data issues.
  • Analyze data for the development of reports, charts, graphs and tables for use by researchers and for publication and presentation.
  • Assist in administration of qualitative and quantitative data collection instruments including interview protocols, observations, and surveys.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, social science or related field - or a combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge or interest in education research.
  • Experience in quantitative data collection, management and analysis. Demonstrated familiarity with the organization of data, including data structures, record layouts, and file structures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products, specifically Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Significant experience with the statistical software STATA. Proficiency with other statistical software is beneficial but the majority of work will be completed in STATA.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively on multiple projects.
  • Extreme attention to detail required.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting in place at computer for long periods of time with extensive keyboarding/dexterity.
  • Occasionally use a telephone.

Background Check

  • The final candidate will be required to successfully pass a background check prior to employment.

This position is fixed-term through December 12, 2016, and is renewable based on performance and funding.
