Leading Matters Presentation
Teachers matter; we can all agree on that. But how can a large urban district improve the quality of its workforce to ensure that more children have the teachers they need and deserve? The presenters share results from a five-year study of how teachers are recruited, prepared and retained to teach in New York City public schools. Their talk will explore the various ways in which New York has addressed shortages of qualified teachers, how these initiatives affected student achievement and the lessons we've learned to ensure excellent teaching in the years ahead.
