Elizabeth Grant

Elizabeth Grant is a visiting associate professor of education in the Graduate School of Education and Human Development at The George Washington University. Dr. Grant is developing graduate-level policy and practice programs and teaching courses on education policy and policymaking. Dr. Grant previously served as senior vice president at Jobs for the Future responsible for strategy and operations for the youth pathways, high school design, postsecondary, and student-centered learning teams as well as for leading education policy initiatives. Prior to that position, she was vice president at American Institutes for Research overseeing a policy and research team of more than 170 staff and 80 projects and contributing to the strategic direction of AIR's Education program. At the U.S. Department of Education, she served as chief of staff in the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education and as a senior policy advisor working on ESEA flexibility, secondary school initiatives, and state technical assistance. Earlier, she worked as a fellow in the office of U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), developing legislation to build education pathways for youth to 21st century careers. Dr. Grant has more than a dozen years of experience in schools serving as an elementary school principal and junior high and high school teacher. She is a graduate of the University of Utah and received a M.Ed. in teaching from Harvard University. She earned her M.A. in sociology and Ph.D. in education policy from Stanford University.
