Professor Rogers will briefly discuss a decade of research on how a behavioral science perspective has increased the effectiveness of voter mobilization efforts. He will transition to how a similar perspective has led to the development of interventions that turn outside-of-school social networks into social support. He will present a set of field experiments that flesh out and evaluate interventions. They each involve packaging administrative data into useful information that is communicated to parents using automated communication channels (e.g., mail or SMS). The research sheds light on parents’ consequential beliefs and decision-making, while also suggesting scalable interventions to improve student success.
