Academic researchers tend to think of research dissemination as a process that begins at the completion of a study, when results are ready to be shared. In addition, academic institutions tend to focus on supporting and rewarding the dissemination of research through academic publications alone, which are directed primarily to other researchers. For local education decision makers, this method of dissemination is largely ineffective. This talk describes how education researchers and decision makers can improve the connection between research and policy and why the research dissemination process must be completely restructured.
