Sherri Widen is a Researcher at CEPA Labs. Her interests pertain to children’s understanding of emotion and she has expertise in developing and testing tools designed to measure children’s social and emotional skills. Her research has shown that children begin with two broad and valence-based concepts (feels good vs. feels bad) which only gradually differentiate as children acquire adult-like emotion concepts, investigated the development of children’s emotion scripts, and described the development of children’s understanding of disgust and fear. Sherri holds a B.A. in Psychology and an M.A. in Developmental Psychology from the University of British Columbia, and a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from Boston College.
